"with there " Your not knowing the difference between their and there as well as your nonsense run-on sentence is a testament that this "college" is bunk. If you're the average "student" I reckon a trained dog can walk in there as long as it was stupid enough to sign student loan papers.

Stolen credits and fees after student loans

I was assured by the school most if not all of my Associate's degree credits would transfer in. Only half did. After almost two years I had to take a break due to becoming a foster mom for 3 toddlers (also had 4 teens of my own). Ashford kept enrolling me, and then UN enrolling me for classes. I had the fosters for a year and half. When I took break I was 18 credits from finishing my BA. When I had the chance to go back I was told I owed them almost 3k for past classes. And then checked my credits needed because I looked at going to a different college and it now shows they have taken my last year of credits away for not completing a degree, saying now I need over 34.5 credits to earn a degree. This is absurd! Two times my work has been stolen from me and now they claim I owe a balance when my student loans prove other wise!! I need help to get my credits earned back and transfer to somewhere else. I hope they are shut down for good for this fraud.fraud.

Rip off stole my money keep lying back and forth Financial Aid is stupid, the classes are stupid and don't apply to anything

If I could give this university a 0 I would I will never attend Ashford University again I went there in 2008 and loved it I thought it was a great university and went to lots of other universities and had the same experience with all of them except for Ashford for starters there's no live lectures all online classes have live lectures for starters that's phony, for two Financial aid is the stupidest people I've ever met I signed up and did the FAFSA and FAFSA told me I was not under verification when Ashford got my FAFSA they were told supposedly and I emphasize supposedly, I was told to do 4 documents I've done this before I know about Verification and what's needed to get out of verification I submitted the documents was kicked back out and told to redo the document's I've uploaded well over 50 documents, finally Financial aid walked me through how to do the documents I did it exactly like they said they said it went through I was out of verification and that I'd get my award letter anytime, all of a sudden I'm back in verification I called to find out when I'd get my stipend because I haven't received my award letter yet, and was told I was back in verification and had to submit the same documents all over again I said I wasn't going to do that I quit Ashford University and that I was turning them into FAFSA that my husband used to be a Federal Agent and he was going to report Ashford University and they got scared and told me to redo the document I did everything I told them I was going to my husband did talk to his boss with the Federal Government and the Federal Government is investigating them right now for fraud, I did turn them into FAFSA and there investigating them and I'm telling everyone how much of a scam Ashford University is, I got them in so much trouble they won't be able to recover and I will never go back to Ashford University again, then they put me in a stupid class that was majority English and English is my specialty and they said I failed at the 4th week which is a lie because I'm an English Scholar, I've written books, I'm working on my 2nd book right now with no problem, it's published and I'm an expert in English so I know they lied on the fact that they said I failed because that's not factual I'm getting ready to sue them and as another point if I'm under verification as they said still explain to me why they stole 6,000 for classes I haven't even taken yet, And I haven't been paid yet my stipend, R

Deceptive Practice

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I enrolled in 2/2015, was told all my tuition and books would be covered by my student loans. Later in the year, I was told I had to take a class and needed to pay for the book in that class. The book was $125.00. I called my student advisor and his manager and was told the class could be pushed back to sometime later in my curriculum, which was fine. Anyway, I decided to leave Ashford in October of that same year. Now Ashford is saying I owe them $1200, but I can't get anyone to tell me why I owe that expense. I have called my student advisor who refer me to financial support. No response. Now I can't get my transcript because they say I still owe them money. I didn't attend there a whole year, and they say I owe them monies. I transferred to another University, and need that transcript with those credits to get my degree. Do not enroll here....find another school.

I enrolled with Ashford because my employer has a discount agreement. I took and passed four courses (graded @ an B, A, C, B respectively).

In February 2020, I requested an extension for my upcoming courses and was approved. During this extension, I was not notified that the program I was in would no longer be offered by the school. I learned this incidentally when I spoke to a representative in regards to extended the leave six more weeks. In addition to learning the school no longer offered the program, I was informed by the VA that the school no longer met criteria for payments.

With these two factors in mind, I decided to withdraw from the school. I was just called today and told that I owe nearly $2600 for withdrawing during the second FAFSA payment period. It was suggested that re-enroll in the school and finish the two required courses for FAFSA payments. This would mean that I would have to re-enroll under a new program that would likely not benefit me and lose the 12 credits I have earned.

The rep I spoke with stated these credits would not transfer leaving me with 12 credits under one program and 6 under a completely different program; neither I could use towards a degree that would serve my current job. I completed my undergraduate with another for-profit school. Though it is not a fondly spoken about school, I was always kept up to date from staff. I have foolishly tried to contact my advisor by phone and through email exactly 8 times since my withdrawal to no avail.

I am beyond frustrated to think that in order for my $2600 debt for a course I never took to be cleared I will have to take two more that will increase my Student Loans by nearly $8000 for a degree that will never serve me any good. I failed to thoroughly research this school before enrolling seeing only the benefit of having the flexibility to work full time and attend classes.

I truly hope this school and the other fraudulent schools promising self- paced, faster completion, and "competitive" (if by competitive they mean the school is more expensive than others) prices soon close their doors and relieve other unfortunate students that may have similar experiences to mine of debt owed to Ashford. This is a horrible and deceptive organization!

Horrible Customer Service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
This school will tell you anything to get you enrolled, even if it is lies! My husband started the process of transferring his GI bill to me (He is Active duty AirForce), and this was the first time we had used it so didnt know too much on how it worked. When calling the school to find out more about the classes, I told my advisor about the transfer and she informed me that all I need was the Certificte of Transfer and I will be fine. I stated that I didnt know how long that wiuld take and she told me that she has NEVER seen it take longer than 30 days. I then asked what would happen if it took longer than 30 days and she replied that an extension would be made and reassured me that I qould not be responsible paying for these classes because the Bill would cover it. I signed up for two classes that cost $1500 total. I Started the classes in March of 2017 I believe. Long story short, the certificate didnt get transferd until Aug od that year, and i ended up owing. I emailed and had them listen to the recordings of her promising me that I would not be responsible. I disputed it. No billing, no collections until Aug of 2019!!! I took these classes in 2017! I get an email stating that I owed and instead of paying it all I asked if there was a payment plan. She responded that I had to go through my student portal to do that. Mind you I hadnt signed in for 2 years so I didnt remember my username or password. The same day that email was sent I was sent to collections! I am currently paying a debt collector and annoyed that they didnt even give me the opportunity to work an arrangement out. Horrible communication!

Unable to obtain Out of State Transfer form

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I graduated in Fall of 2018 from Ashford University online program with a B.A. degree in Early Childhood Education. I am in the process of obtaining my states teaching licences. One of the requirements to do so is to have the Dean of Education at Ashford complete the attached OOST (Out of State Transfer)verification form.I received an email from my states dept. of ed stating that I would need the Dean of Education @ Ashford University to complete the OOST( Out of State Transfer). I then relayed this information via email to SEVERAL INDIVIDUALS including my career counselor, advisor, student services, career services and a plethora of other individuals at AU, all in a span of 2 months or better but have yet to received a thorough response that gives me a definitive answer.

This school acquired my school in late 2018. They are trying to charge me for classes paid for by financial aid while it was still the University of the Rockies. Have stopped me from enrolling in the final 4 classes i need to complete my PhD, sent an email stating they are going to notify FSA that I dropped out unless i pony up 9k. Reported them to FSA for abuse of federal financial aid, and went to WASC to check on their accredidation....they are under scrutiny....

I’m having all kinds of issues also. I agreed to a payment plan for a balance of 500.

In order to continue Rockies classes through Ashford. Made two payments and then all former Rockies students received grant offers . These forgive outstanding balances, tech fees 1200. They approved the grant for me but still want another payment.

Ashford had me talked into joining them and dropping the Rockies like 30-60 days before the grants were offered.

So I back tracked to my original masters at the Rockies. Now I’m not even registered for class which starts tomorrow .

Customer Serivce Sucks

The advisors at Ashford seem to not have the answers needed to do their job. Since I've attended Ashford I was a military spouse. My first 5 or 6 courses I was unaware that I was eligible for the military grant. After telling the school that I was married to an active duty military member no one informed me, even while walking me through the process to change my name. I let my advisor know that the only form of I.D I had with my new updated name was my military I.D and they informed me that it could not be accepted. After the fact, when finding out I was eligible for the grant I requested a backpay of the funds I had over paid. They denied my request and kept this money due to them not having enough facts about the situation. To me my marriage license, the date I was married and the fact I was eligible for the grant was enough facts. To Ashford they felt that since I had no proof of this information it was a lie. After asking them to review the phone calls I had with the advisors they told me that the calls are not recorded to protect me but for training purposes. Also I've had problems with the financial aid advisors, each time I talk to someone I get a different answer about what steps are need to be taken on my end therefore cause for a later disbursement of funds. I started the process in October and I am in a new year and still have not received my funds. School is stressful enough I wish that I could just get the answered needed the first time around instead of having to hope the information given to me is correct.

Unhappy graduate

I graduated from Ashford in 2015 which was my 2nd degree with Ashford. Im finding out the hard way that my advisor gave me the worst advise ever. Not only that no one pointed/advised me in any direction of a job. I put in applications, but nothing. I think using Forbes is just a way of luring people in, to be students, just to put people in thousands of dollars worth of debt. Im sooo very disappointed in my education that has gotten me no where.
